Don’t miss our Rhodes City Tour with one of our luxury mini buses, a truly unique opportunity for every visitor to see all the sights and points of interest in the heart of the City!
Our city tour starts after we pick you up from the hotel or cruise ship and we will be driving you around the most important sights of the city center:
• The Three Windmills were used in the past to grind grains brought from vessels that moored in the harbor of Rhodes. There used to be more windmills, possibly 13 or 14 but now only three remain and they have been extensively renovated offering a great opportunity for instagrammable photos!
• The Mandraki harbor with its impressive monumental buildings built by the Italians. Mandraki harbor has been a harbor since antiquity. The Knights of Rhodes moored their fleet in this harbor and today it houses modern yachts.
• The sculptures of the Rhodian Deer, a stag and a doe, stand on slim columns on either side of the Mandraki Harbor entrance. It is believed that the statue of Colossus once stood here. Today these two charming Rhodian deer sculptures serve as the guardians of the Port.
The next highlight of our tour is passing in front of the Underwater Marine Aquarium. The aquarium of Rhodes is a research center, aquarium and a museum. It was built in the 1930s, when the island was under the Italian rule and currently functions under the administration of the National Centre of Marine Research. It offers the visitors the chance to visit it another day and have a close up view of the Eastern Mediterranean marine life, giving you the impression of being underwater!
Passing from Monte Smith, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the City and the sea shore, the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, the impressive open air Ancient Stadium and the Amphitheatre.
At the end of our 40 minutes driving panoramic City tour, we stop outside one of the main gates of the famous Medieval City of Rhodes also known as the Old Town, a monument of world cultural heritage.
Then, you can continue on foot with the help of our Professional Guide. If you want to visit the Archaeological Museum, you can make all necessary arrangements with your guide (entrance fee for the museum 6 euros-optional activity). You will get the opportunity to travel for 1 hour and 30 minutes in the Medieval history of the island, walking through the famous Street of the Knights all the way up to the Grand Master’s Palace. The famous Order of the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem has left an incredible mark on the island and walking around the alleys makes you feel like you can almost hear the hoofbeats of the horses and the history of Rhodes whispering in your ear! The feeling of exploring the medieval streets of Rhodes is almost indescribable. Time seems to have stopped in the Middle Ages and the atmosphere is shrouded in the haze of its knightly past.
That’s why you will have an hour of extra free time for photographs, maybe a coffee stop, buying souvenirs and discovering the secrets of the Old City yourself. Maybe the cobbled streets and the Gothic towers will reveal their deepest secrets to you.
If you want to visit the Archaeological Museum it can be arranged with your guide.
