Our first stop is Kouros of Melanes, Kouros the Greek, as it is widely known. It's an impressive archaic period statue (6th Cent BC) on the premises of the ancient marble quarry. A perfect sample of an Archaic period statue.
The next stop is a photo stop at the modern marble quarry from a distance. The following stop is at the church of Panagia Drosiani, the oldest church in the Balkan peninsula famous for its architecture and frescoes. Although the church might not be open, as there are no specific opening hours, we’ll enjoy the magnificent landscape.
The next stop is Filoti, the island's biggest village, located on the feet of Zas Mountain. We shall walk and explore the village and there’s going to be time to have a coffee at the most popular square of Naxos island.
Afterward, we’ll get to Apiranthos, the marble village. A perfect place to stroll in the village alleys, take photos and learn stories of the village.
Next stop is Apollonas, a seashore village at the most northern point of the island where we’ll relax at the seashore and then last but not least stop is Kouros of Apollonas, an impressive 10,5m long statue of the Archaic period, half-finished abandoned at the ancient marble quarry.
Then we get back to Naxos town, following the North-west coast and enjoying splendid views of North Cyclades islands.
